Solberg Family Pics

We had everyone home this Christmas, so we of course had to have family pictures taken. Above is Jenny with Austin. She wanted to hold Austin, and Austin kept wanting to arch out of her hands, so we were glad to get this shot.
Papa and Nana with their grand kids.

The whole Solberg Family, and Austin's 1st Solberg Family photo op.

Our family shot. Thanks go to Val for the Curious George monkey that helped Austin smile. He LOVES his monkey!!!!

Our two Marines. Don't they look so handsome. I can't believe they are all grown up. I remember having to babysit them, Trevor breaking his legs because he was roller blading in the house, Tigger having stitches after stitches after stitches, playing naked in the mud, breaking raw eggs on the floor one morning. Who would of thought that these two trouble makers would one day become Marines and represent America. WOW!

Meeting Santa

We took Jenny and Austin to the Southwest mall to meet Santa. Jenny was very excited to go and see Santa and was rehearsing her list of Christmas items she was going to tell Santa she wanted. When it became our turn Jenny walked up to Santa. She didn't say anything, but just looked at him. Then Santa asked her if she would like to sit on his lap and she said yes which shocked both Bryan and I. We thought that she would be very shy and cry. Then we put "Santa's Little Helper" on his lap. Austin didn't cry either. He just looked at Santa and then at me to make sure I wasn't going to leave him there with this weird guy. We took the picture which actually turned out better then we thought. I was expecting a frowning Jenny and a crying Austin. So I'm thrilled with this picture. After the picture Jenny told Santa what she wants for Christmas. It was a very successful day!

Sleeping on the job

So, I was feeding Austin last night some cereal and carrots, and I guess they weren't good enough because all of a sudden he just went to sleep. It kind of scared me at first because he literally just passed out, but he was breathing and okay. He looked so cute that I knew I had to take a picture of him.

Jenny's School Pic

Just wanted to share Jenny's school picture.

Funny Story

So yesterday, Jenny was running around the house like crazy, probably from a sugar high because she kept sneaking candy. I kept telling her to stop and of course she wouldn't, so finally I raised my voice and said "Jenny, stop running now!" Jenny proceeded to stop right in front of me, looked at me, and said "Yes, your majesty" and bowed. I started cracking up. I thought wow, I've succeeded as a parent when your child calls you your majesty. LOL

Austin 4 month checkup

Austin had his 4 month checkup today. He weighs 17.5 pounds and is 27 inches long. He is in the 89% catagory for his weight and 99% for his height. So he's tall and lean. Austin does however have an ear infection in his left ear and a bit of pink eye in his left eye. So, he is on antibiotics for both of those. He also recieved an oral immunization and 3 shots, so needless to say Austin is not feeling the greatest right now. My poor baby! :(

Jenny and Barbie

On Saturday we all decided to go to Walmart to see if we could find the Barbie and "The Diamond Castle" horse and carriage. Jenny loves that movie and already has one of the Barbie's, Liana, from the movie. She has told us that for Christmas she wants the other Barbie, Alexa, the Diamond Castle itself, and the horse and carriage. We had seen in the ads that Walmart dropped their price for the horse and carriage from $50 to $20 so we couldn't pass it up. I took Jenny and Austin and went to a different part of the store while Bryan went and found the horse and carriage, paid for it, and put it in the back of the car. Now if only we could get such a great deal on Alexa and the castle. Maybe the day after Thanksgiving.
As we were walking back to the front of the store who do we run into?? Alexa and Liana from "The Diamond Castle." We had no idea that they were going to be there that day, so we tried to get Jenny to take a picture with her favorite Barbies. As you can tell Mommy was more excited then Jenny as Jenny was a little scared. She wouldn't stand by them, so I had to hold her. She wouldn't even smile. We took the picture anyways and now Jenny carries the picture everywhere and says "that's Alexa and Liana with me." Of course I scanned the picture before I let her have it.

I took this picture with my cell phone so it is a little blurry, but one of my favorites. Jenny actually held Austin, smiled, and looked at the camera. I made funny faces to get Austin to smile. I was amazed I got a great picture.

Ariel and our Military Baby

We had a great Halloween. We had our families over and Jenny's best friend Joey. Jenny was Ariel from "The Little Mermaid," Joey was Wolverine from "The X-Men," and Austin was our military baby in honor of his Uncle Dan, Uncle Teag, and Uncle Trevor who are serving in the military. We met up with several of the neighborhood kids and all went trick-or-treating. It was a huge group and very fun. We have the best neighborhood!
Jenny as Ariel. She waited so long to wear her costume, and I was thrilled that is was such a warm night as her costume would not have been as fun if it had to of been covered up with a winter coat. She did start out with a sweater, but then took it off as she was hot from walking so much. About half way through our trick-or-treating I had to unload some of her candy into my pockets as her bucket was overflowing and heavy. When we got back to the house she was so excited to see how much candy she had gotten. So was Daddy & Papa, and they quickly snuck some candy from her bucket without her seeing.

Austin as our military baby. He went trick-0r-treating for about half of the time then went home as he was tired and hungry, but he enjoyed seeing the lights.

Our princess and Navy/Marine baby.

Pumpkin Carving

I guess I should label it pumpkin coloring enstead of pumpkin carving. Jenny didn't want to cut her pumpkin open to pull out all of the "yucky" stuff, so I gave her the choice to color her pumpkin. She jumped at that, and as you can tell she drew a nice pumpkin face. She was very proud of her pumpkin.

Austin's 1st Cereal

We gave Austin his first taste of cereal the other night. He wasn't too sure at first but quickly gobbled it down. I would say that he did better with it then Jenny did when she first tried cereal. I didn't let him finish all of it as I wanted to see how it would sit, but there were no problems. Both Bryan and I were anxious to have him sleep through the night due to the cereal, however, it was completely opposite. Austin was up every 2 hours. It was miserable! The next day, though hesitant to try it again, I gave Austin another round of cereal. He ate all of the cereal plus a little bit more. What can I say, except that I have a "growing" boy. Ha Ha! Austin did not sleep through the night that night, but did sleep for a solid 5 hours. So, I'll take that. Overall, it is very exciting to see him take this next step.

Miller Farms

Last weekend we went to Miller Farms with Nana, Papa, Taniel, and Kelsey (Trevor's girlfriend), and we had a blast. Yes, it was cold and wet, but we still had a good time. Miller Farms is off of 1-25 and exit 243. They have so many fun things to do like a corn maze, hay maze, tractor derby, petting zoo, and an air slide. You even get to take a hay ride out into their fields and pick as much as you like of potatoes, onions, carrots, pumpkins, corn, squash, etc. Jenny loved riding the tractor's with Daddy. Daddy's legs were very sore afterwards, but as he said "it was worth it to make her happy." Austin slept through most of it, but he was still cute.

Lollilocks

Today I took Jenny and her best friend Joey to Lollilocks to get their hair cuts. Jenny has been here before, but this is the first time she has willingly sat on one of the animals so it was a "kodak" moment. Joey, however, was very excited to sit on the motorcycle. In fact, Joey was so confident that when the lady told him she liked his hair color he said "I know." We all laughed.
Joey chose to have blue spiked hair, and Jenny chose to have her hair braided in the back with a pink and black ribbon (to match her outfit) and sparkles. They had a fun time!

Just Sharing

I don't have anything really to say except I have two cute kids.
I guess I should explain the doll in the picture. That is Leana from Barbie and The Diamond Castle, Jenny's favorite movie for the week. :) Jenny has a chore chart where she has certain chores she needs to do every day. When she does a chore she gets to put a happy face next to it. We decide how many happy faces she has to get before she gets a reward. Her reward this last time was to get the Leana Barbi doll from that movie. Jenny is now working towards getting Leana's best friend, Alexa. She is already well on her way.

Our Navy Crawling Team

Austin has been recruited as the next member in the "Navy Crawling Team." He joins his sister who was recruited when she was a baby.
Their Uncle Dan, who is in the Navy, gave Jenny this outfit when she was a baby, so it was only fair to put Austin in it as well.

Can't wait for Halloween

Jenny has said that she would like to be Ariel from the Little Mermaid for Halloween, so for the past couple of weeks I have been searching ebay for an Ariel costume. After trying to find the right costume, the right size, and staying on top of the "bidding wars," I finally found her costume. So, for everyday this week Jenny has been watching the mail for her Little Mermaid costume. Today it came and she was so excited. We had to put it on and try it out. Outside of it being too long, it is perfect. She even already had a crown and wand to go with it. We only let her wear it for a little bit explaining that we need to keep it nice until Halloween. I'm sure she won't be able to wait until Halloween to wear it again.

1st Dentist Visit

Jenny went to her first dentist visit this week and she did awesome. I told her a couple of days in advance that she was going to see the tooth doctor, and that he is going to clean her teeth so they are shiny. She said "ok." Then I asked her if she would like to know the doctor's name, and she said "yes." I said that the tooth doctor's name is Dr. Boeynk (pernounced "boink"), Jenny started laughing. She said "his name is Dr. Boink?" I said yes. She said "that is so funny." When we got to the dentist's office they had her put on some sunglasses to keep the light out of her eyes. She did a good job, but was very quite. She would not talk for nothing. She was happy at the end of the visit because they gave her a "Little Mermaid" toothbrush, Spongebob toothpaste, and a bracelet. She also got to keep the sunglasses. She now likes going to the dentist and can't wait to see Dr. Boeynk again.

Austin's 2 month check up

Austin had his 2 month check up today and is doing great, as we all can tell. He is in the 98 percentile for everything: weight, head circum., length, etc. He weighs 15 pounds. I can honestly say I was shocked as I thought he would weigh more around 20 pounds, not complaining however. As the doctor was examining Austin, she placed him on his stomach to check his strength and head control, and was amazed to see him almost turning over. We had to stop him midway so he wouldn't roll off the table, but the doctor was in shock that at 2 months he was almost rolling over. He is going to be crawling before we know it. Even though the visit went well there was the dredded shots at the end. Austin recieved 3 shots, 2 in the right leg and 1 in the left. He was so mad that his entire face turned bright red. I felt so bad. I have been holding him ever since telling him I'm sorry. I'm pretty sure he's not complaining now. :)

Today was Jenny and Joey's 1st day of preschool at Timberline Elementary. They were both very excited to go back to "school." They started preschool at Kindercare last year, which they loved. Then when summer started we decided to take them out and give them a break. Over the summer we found out that Timberline Elementary offered preschool, and seeing how that is Jenny's school she will be attending when she starts Kindergarten, we decided to try it out. They had a blast! I think this will be a great school for them.

Austin gave us his 1st smile about a week and a half ago. It is so fun and rewarding to have him smile back at us when we talk to him. He is even starting to talk back to us.
